MiLP Team Style Tournament

We need a few more teams

  We need a few more teams and we also have some male players who are looking for female players.   See Teams and Match-Up Information below. 

Registration Information

Join us for the Conejo Classic Team Pickleball Tournament hosted by Ventura County Pickleball Club (VCPC) and Conejo Recreation and Park District (CRPD) at Rancho Conejo Playfield in Newbury Park.  This is an MiLP-style Team Tournament. The format will be a 4-Person Team Format and each team will consist of two (2) females and two (2) males.  For the tournament, you will be playing with the same 4-person team the entire time.  Your entire team will stick together to cheer each other on. 

  

Teams and Match Up Information:    

We need a couple more teams.  Please send your team information (names, ages, DUPR ID #, DUPR Rating and email addresses) to: tournaments@venturacountypickleballclub.com and we will put you on our team wait-list.  Once we have all the teams to complete a division, we will open up spots for you to register.  In addition, we have a couple of men’s teams who are looking for female players to play in DUPR 14 and above.  If you are interested, please email us your information as soon as possible.


Registration Information

  • Cost is $50/person ($200/team) for the MiLP Team Tournament.
  • Tournament will be run on the SWISH App.  Registration is through swishtournaments.com
  • All 4 Team Members should sign up at the same time.  However, if you do not have your full team yet, you may still register if you have the majority of your team and can use placeholder information in the required fields for your other player.  You will need to update the information as soon as possible on swishtournaments.com.  Payment must be made in full at time of registration.
  • Important: Once you have your full team, ALL players are required to have their full name, email address, DUPR ID# and DUPR rating in the required fields.  
  • Dates: June 21 and June 22, 2025
  • Place:  Rancho Conejo Playfield,  950 Ventu Park Rd, Newbury Park 
  • Check-In Time: 7:30 a.m.
  • Start Time:  8:00 a.m.
  • End Time:  Approximately 2:00-3:00 p.m.
  • DUPR Divisions 12 & 14 will play on Saturday, June 21 (see below DUPR Divisions).
  • DUPR Divisions 16 & 17 will play on Sunday, June 22 (see below DUPR Divisions).
  • Waitlist: If your division is full and would like to be added to the waitlist, send an email to tournaments@venturacountypickleballclub.com with the following information for ALL players: names, ages, DUPR IDs & Ratings, emails and phone numbers, and bracket you want to play in: DUPR  12, 14, 16 or 17.
  • PLEASE check your rating for each entry prior to registering for the tournament.  
  • 10 outdoor courts (6 dedicated and 4 multi-use courts).
  • Court monitors will be assigned to the courts.
  • Medals awarded to the top three teams in each division.
  • Top three winners will be determined by the "Results" page on the SWISH App.
  • Complementary snacks and water available. 
  • Parking at Rancho Conejo Playfield can be difficult so please allow extra time and be aware that you may need to park offsite. 

milp tournament information

A little more about MiLP-style play:  Each bracket will consist of 6 teams max (depending on number of teams per bracket), playing the following matches for each round:  (1) women's doubles, (1) men's doubles, and (2) mixed doubles games.   Remember, this is Rally Scoring, so it moves quickly:  

  • Rally scoring is simple: a point is scored after every rally, regardless of which team is serving. This version of pickleball rewards success after each point.  
  • There is no Second Server in Rally Scoring. The team starting the game will designate a Starting Server who will always serve from the Even or Right side of the court when their score is even.
  • The winning point must be won by the serving team, hence a temporary point freeze happens. 
  • There will be no other point freeze for this tournament, except for the aforementioned winning point.  
  • Both the volley serve and drop serve are allowed. 
  • All games in a match will be played on the same court.  After a match is completed, you will rotate courts to play the next match.
  • There will be no playoffs for this tournament.   
  • The format of the dreambreaker match (tie breaker) is to be determined. 

*DUPR DIVISIONS

DUPR17 (The team’s aggregate DUPR must not exceed 17.30)
**Maximum individual player DUPR does not apply
DUPR16 (The team’s aggregate DUPR must not exceed 16.30)
**Maximum individual player DUPR cannot exceed 4.60 to play in DUPR 16
DUPR14 (The team’s aggregate DUPR must not exceed 14.30)
**Maximum individual player DUPR cannot exceed 4.10 to play in DUPR 14
DUPR12 (The team’s aggregate DUPR must not exceed 12.30)
**Maximum individual player DUPR cannot exceed 3.60 to play in DUPR 12

 NR - Non Rated Players will be assigned a rating based on the average rating of the division they sign up for. For example, if an NR player joins a DUPR 14 division, they are assigned a 3.500 rating.  This assigned rating is then factored into the team's overall DUPR aggregate, which must stay within the allowed limit.  

RULES

  • Tournament Rules: Official USA Pickleball  (USAP) 2025 Rulebook, except to the extent that the MiLP Rules apply. 
  • As of the day of the tournament, only paddles on USA Pickleball’s  approved list may be used in the tournament.  For a full list of  approved paddles, visit www.equipment.usapickleball.org.
  • Tournament Ball: Franklin X40.
  • Code of Conduct: VCPC, CRPD and USAP. VCPC's Code of Conduct is under documents section of website: click here. Click underlined text to review the Codes of Conduct for CRPD & USAP. USAP Code of Conduct and CRPD Code of Conduct. As a part of the Waiver, all participants will be required to acknowledge that they have reviewed and agree to abide by the policies and conditions of VCPC’s Code of Conduct, as well as the policies and conditions of CRPD and USAP, outlined on their websites.
  • Agreement, Waiver and Release (Waiver):  You may review the waiver by clicking on this link: https://swishtournaments.com/product/conejo-classic-tournament-team-mlp-style/ and scrolling down to the “Photos” tab.  When you register for the tournament, you are acknowledging the terms and conditions of the Waiver. You will also be required to sign the Waiver at the Registration Desk.
  • Dress Code:  USAP Rules, Shirts and Shoes Required.

Cancellation/Refund Policy

Cancellations/Changes - Please make any changes to partners or  cancellations directly through My Tournaments at Swishtournaments.com.   If you need to change partners or withdraw after registration has  closed, please email the tournament director at tournaments@venturacountypickleballclub.com.
 

Refunds - Will be given until Friday, June 13, 2025 at 11:59 pm.
ALL REFUNDS FOR CANCELLATIONS WILL BE LESS $5.00 SWISH PROCESSING FEE & $3.00 BANK FEES.

 

NOTE: Cancellation of tournament due to Weather will result in refunds  to all players less $5.00 Swish processing fee & $3.00 Bank Fees.
